New on the scene is a wonderful resource for Christian (and non-Christian) women to help build marriage relationships in a God-honoring way.  Popular Christian voices Lisa Jacobson and Phylicia Masonheimer have just released their collaborated work, The Flirtation Experiment, with an aim to strenghten marriages with a fun approach  - flirting.

Each chapter addresses a new way in which to pursue a spouse in a fun, and sometimes challenging way, that will make the reader re-think they way they express love to their spouse and re-consider the ways they expect marriage to be.  Especially for couples who have been married for some time and have hit that all to familiar slump of life, chaos, kids and schedules taking precedence, this book offers timely and concretely useable methods to spark some life and fun back into a marriage.  After reading the book, wives will find themselves hopeful and empowered to make a positive change in small ways, bringing a return to romance.

The authors approach the topic very respectfully and with spiritual boundaries in mind, while also encouraging women that it is ok to push those boundaries many of us have been taught to know as inappropriate.  With Biblical reference and backing, they point out how God intends us to pursue our loved one and to create an atmosphere of mutual respect and love, that it is ok to have fun and flirt with your spouse, and they definitely give the reader pause to consider their own position while sharing very honest stories from the author's point of view to keep it real and grounded.  

This is a book that is easy to read and can be done in spurts, or all at once.  It can be broken down into weeks, months, or days, however it fits the reader best.  With language that is easy to interpret, stories that are easily relatable and honest, and challenges that are attainable, this book gives wives the power to make big changes in their relationship and find fulfillment they also seek while making very small changes or actions.  I am so glad I have this book in my hands and am already seeing things improve in my own relationship!

This is a book I believe every wife should own and read!

Bra Strap Clip Review

I am slow at getting some of these clips to help conceal bra straps for some of the trendier shirts I own, but I have finally purchased some.  The pack I bought came with 9 clips - 3 in white, tan and black.  They are basic plastic construction made simply to pull both shoulder straps together into the middle of one's back to change the direction the straps run and therefore conceal them.

They seemed pretty self-explanatory, but the package came with instructions anyway, so after reading through them I attempted to follow the steps.

 The first step was pretty simple, once I determined which way was up.  Just slide the clip onto one strap, easy enough.

 From there, it got a bit more complicated.  Directions are to slide it over your shoulder to the middle of the strap and then attach it to the other strap.  Easier said than done.  However, after some struggling and contorting as well as some irritation at the clip getting hung up on parts of the bra strap, I got it into place.

 I couldn't get the straps to sit flat once pulled together, but hoped in the middle it wouldn't matter.  Shirt back on, and the clip definitely did the job of hiding the straps.

Moving forward, should I wear any of my more revealing racerback shirts or such, I will probably get my husband to give me a hand with these clips, it was kind of a pain to get straight behind my back.  However, the clips do their job and stay in place all day.

Prenatal Vitamin Review

To go along with the Prenatal DHA + Vitamin D3 supplements I reviewed recently, I have also been trying out these Prenatal Vitamins also made by Zenwise Health.  This bottle of prenatal vitamins comes in a huge 300 count.  It is you basic prenatal vitamin, perfect for expecting or breastfeeding mamas like myself. 

 The bottle comes well sealed.  Once the outer plastic seal is removed from the cap, there is an additional paper seal that must be removed in addition to a wad of cotton.  I did not find any broken pills in my bottle and felt very secure that the contents had been well protected.

 Inside are brown vitamins.  They are your basic oval shaped pill.  They are manageable in size and easy enough to swallow with a little water.  I didn't notice any taste after consuming them.

 A serving is 2 pills, so this bottle will last a very long time!

Each of these pills contain the following:
- 800 mcg of Folic Acid
- 2,000 IU of Vitamin A
- 100 mg of Vitamin C
- 25 million CFU of probiotics
- Vitamin D2
- Vitamin E
- Vitamin B12
- Vitamin B
Additionally, these vitamins are made in the USA in a FDA registered location with GMP and NSF certifications.

Prenatal DHA + Vitamin D3 Review

Though not currently pregnant, I continue to take prenatal vitamins while I am breastfeeding.  The free ones I can get from the pharmacy leave much to chance as they are short on some other key vitamins and in a much lower percentage than high quality vitamins to be purchased. When I found these Prenatal DHA vitamins that also contain Vitamin D3, I was very interested as Vitamin D is one area I know I and my baby need.  This product is a supplement, one to be taken with regular prenatal multivitamins.

 

 The bottle comes with 180 gel capsules.   2 capusles a day constitutes a serving size, so this bottle will last 3 months.  Made from 100% natural ingredients and without any flavor, they are good for early pregnancy, sensitive stomachs and palates, and those preferring no taste.  They are loaded with good stuff for baby's growth and development as well as mom's health and well being: 
- 2000 IU of Vitamin D3 
- 150mg of EPA - 450mg of DHA - No filler ingredients - Unflavored formula

The benefits of these vitamins are many: 
- Keeps skin healthy and smooth 
- Promotes healthy cognitive and ocular development 
- Energizes and supports overall well-being

- Supports skeletal development for babies 

 The capsules are in a very manageable size to swallow.  They go down easily, dissolve quickly and leave no aftertaste.

I cannot fully speak to their actual effect or how well they work in comparison to other vitamins as I have no way of comparing those things.  But, I do know that they were easy to take, full of key vitamins a new or nursing mom needs and highly recommend for their ingredients.

Fleece Ponytail Headband Review

My job as a crossing guard puts me outside a lot in the winter.  The cold winds, chilly temps and snow leave me needing something to protect my ears.  I typically wear a basic fleece headband, but with really long hair that I often wear up, I was intrigued by the ponytail headband I came across, so I bought it.

This headband has a cut out in the back specifically for ponytails to fit through, making it easier for women to use, and more convenient as the headband stays in place instead of slipping around hair.

The headband is made of soft fleece with a binding around the edges to give it a finished look and hold it all together.  This binding also criss-crosses in the back around the hole for the ponytail.

I love the concept of this headband.  It is well constructed and of quality materials.  Sadly, it is much too large for my head.  I got it in a medium, the only option offered to me, and it is quite loose on my head.

It is so loose that it slides all around, even with my ponytail in place, and the cold air just sneaks right around the gaps.  So, unfortunately, it will not be of any use to me.

I also feel like the fleece is pretty thin in comparison to my basic fleece headband.  It has dual layers, while this is just a single layer of fleece, so it is not nearly as warm or protecting.  I can't add this one to my list of recommended products at this time.

3 oz Travel Bottles Review

I spend a lot of time packing for family trips throughout the year.  Each time, I find myself pulling out all of the full size shampoo, lotion, etc. bottles and being frustrated with the space they take up as well as annoyed by the need to pack them in plastic bags in case they break open during travel.  Now, I have a simple solution!  

These little 3 oz travel bottles are so handy!  Just the right size for a short trip, they hold enough shampoo and conditioner for me for a full week, and more than enough lotion and body wash.  The perfect travel accessories

Easy to fill, the top screws off to reveal a large opening.  

Even if squeezed with the lid snapped closed, they do not leak as they have a flap across the small opening to help regulate the amount discharged.  These things seal super tight and I have never had one open accidentally or leak.  I do transport them in the handy little carry bag they come in - just in case.

They are versatile, and can be used for must about anything, even food as they are made from food-grade silicone.

I love that they have the built in suction cup.  This little bugger is strong and will hold them to the shower wall for the duration of the shower and beyond.  They come off easily enough when needed, but keep hands free and are so convenient for those showers encountered during travel with little or no shelf space, or are too slippery to hold the bottles.

These things are great, and I plan to add more to my cart soon so each member of my family has their own for our next trip.  If you are looking for a gift, for travel accessories for men or travel accessories for women, even for the whole family, you can't go wrong with these travel bottles!

I often desire a small group to study and learn with in my quest to grow in my faith.  However, once I get to the point of determining who might be in the group with me, I come up short on what to study or where to start.  Recently I came across this guide and was glad to have found the resource I needed to get my group started.

Christine Tate has written this guide with just my situation in mind.  This book contains eight 1-hour bible study "sessions" that are non-denominational, making it perfect for nearly any group.  Designed specifically for women, it encompasses plenty of time for talk and sharing along with learning.  Each session contains an Ice Breaker, Lesson, Discussion Questions, Optional Weekly Personal Challenges and Closing Prayer.  Each of these sections has a suggested time included to help the group leader guide the group while maintaining the one-hour time frame.  A section for notes is included at the end of each lesson as well.

Lesson topics in this book include: Taking Care of Yourself. An Organized Life, People Pleasers, Always Be Prepared, Weight Management, Christian Relationships, Being a Virtuous Woman and Financial Health.  Each lesson contains scripture, commentary, discussion prompts and activity suggestions to help bond the group and grow faith while also growing friendships.

It is intended that each group member have their own copy of this book. Some activities request that the books be passed around for Ice Breakers.  This book has worked well for me in developing a consistent model for group meetings and has given us opportunity to develop a group dynamic in a non-confrontational or intimidating way.  Believers from all degrees of faith and Bible experience can use this study with confidence and without fear of falling short.
